Service / Checkups
What does a real cleaning look like?
A cleaning is the appointment we want you to keep. Twice a year, forty-five minutes, scale plus polish plus exam. Maya does the exam on every recall; we do not run a hygiene mill where you never see the dentist.

Scope · in writing
What this service is, and what it is not.
What we do
- Full mouth scale with a piezo scaler, not just a polish.
- Bitewing X-rays every 18 months, never sooner unless we need them.
- Exam from the dentist on every recall, not just the hygienist.
- A one-page written summary of what we saw, on paper.
What we do NOT do
- Whitening pitched to every patient who walks in.
- Sealants on every adult tooth as a default.
- Stack the appointment with three add-on services you did not ask for.
Question 01
How is this different from a hygiene-only clinic?
Maya sees you on every visit, not just the hygienist. She spends the last ten minutes of the appointment checking the same things she would check at an exam-only visit. If something looks off, she will tell you straight, and she will write the cost on the summary sheet before you leave the chair.
Question 02
Are X-rays really necessary every time?
No. We take bitewings every eighteen months unless something prompts a closer look. If you bring records from your last dentist that are under two years old, we will use those instead. The cleaning itself does not require new X-rays.
Question 03
What if my insurance only covers cleanings once a year?
Some plans split the year into recall plus prophy. Karen at the front desk runs your plan before the appointment and tells you what is covered and what is not. The price on the menu is the patient-paid number when insurance refuses to pay; you do not get a surprise bill from us.
Question 04
How long should it take?
A standard recall runs forty-five minutes. New patients run an hour because we do a more thorough exam and take baseline images. If your gum health is good, the appointment ends early; if it is not, we book a follow-up rather than rushing.
The visit · before, during, after
How the appointment runs.
- Step 1
Before
Brush as usual. You do not need to do anything different. Bring your insurance card, or send a photo to the front desk the day before.
- Step 2
During
Forty-five minutes in the chair. Scale, polish, exam. Maya stops to explain anything she sees that needs attention.
- Step 3
After
You leave with a printed summary, the next recall on the calendar, and a number for anything that needs follow-up. No upsell call the next week.
